Recently, it was learned from the manufacturer of sodium benzoate that the market supervision bureau of Donggang District, Rizhao City organized the supervision and sampling inspection of self-made drinks in milk tea stores and beverage stores. This task sampled 50 batches of self-made drinks in 17 stores, including self-made fruit and vegetable juice drinks, self-made milk tea drinks and other self-made drinks. The main test items are the limited use of food additives, including pigments Sweetener, sodium benzoate and other preservatives. All 50 batches of samples selected this time have been tested, and there are no unqualified samples, and the qualified rate is 100%.

100% qualified does not mean that there is no risk. In this sampling inspection, pigment was detected in 11 batches of samples, sweetener was detected in 14 batches and preservative was detected in 10 batches. Preservatives such as pigment, sweetener and sodium benzoate are food additives allowed by the state. However, according to the introduction of third-party testing institutions, long-term intake of excessive food additives is likely to have adverse effects on consumers' health:

1. Pigment - lemon yellow, sunset yellow

Lemon yellow and sunset yellow are synthetic pigments. Generally, as long as the pigment is used within the specified dose and range, its safety is guaranteed, and excessive abuse of pigment will endanger people's health. If consumers eat a large number of foods with excessive pigment content for a long time or at one time, especially foods containing lemon yellow, sunset yellow and other pigments, they may cause allergies, diarrhea and other symptoms; When the intake is too large and exceeds the body load, it will accumulate in the body and cause certain damage to the kidney and liver.

2. Sweeteners - sodium cyclamate, acesulfame

As sweeteners, sodium cyclamate and acesulfame are widely used in the beverage processing industry because their sweetness is often dozens or even hundreds of times that of white granulated sugar and their price is cheap. However, the state strictly regulates the use of these two sweeteners.

If consumers often eat drinks or other foods with excessive sodium cyclamate content, they will cause harm to the human liver and nervous system due to excessive intake, especially to the elderly, pregnant women and children with weak ability of metabolism and detoxification.

Acesulfame, namely potassium acetylsulfonate, is a synthetic sweetener. It is easily soluble in water and has a sweetness 200 times that of sucrose. Because it does not contain heat and does not participate in metabolism, it is especially suitable for people with diabetes and those who need low-energy healthy foods. Acesulfame is a synthetic sweetener. Regular consumption of foods with excessive synthetic sweeteners will cause harm to human liver and nervous system, especially to the elderly, pregnant women and children.

3. Preservatives - benzoic acid and its sodium salt, dehydroacetic acid and its sodium salt

Benzoic acid and its sodium salt are relatively safe. A small amount of benzoic acid and sodium benzoate are not toxic to human body. They can be excreted with urine and will not accumulate in human body. If excessive benzoic acid is added to food, it will do some harm to human body. Long term consumption of benzoic acid and sodium benzoate will cause chronic benzene poisoning, leading to headache, dizziness, memory loss, insomnia, fatigue and neurasthenia. At the same time, the number of white blood cells will be reduced, and severe aplastic anemia will also be caused.

Dehydroacetic acid and its sodium salt are common food preservatives. At present, there is no research to prove the potential harm of dehydroacetic acid to human body. However, if it is used too much in food, it will produce pungent smell and affect the quality and taste of food. Excessive use of dehydroacetic acid and its sodium salt in food will cause certain harm to human body. Dehydroacetic acid and its sodium salt can be quickly and completely absorbed by human tissues. After entering the human body, it is dispersed in plasma and many organs. It can inhibit a variety of oxidase in the body.

According to the analysis of the third-party testing organization, the additives in self-made drinks are detected. Generally, they are derived from the raw materials and additives of blended drinks, which further proves that self-made milk tea and self-made fruit and vegetable juice are not made from natural food. In addition, the so-called "q-bomb pearl, attractive milk cover, smooth milk, sugar free milk tea and sugar free beverage" will also pose a certain risk to health after long-term drinking.
